What an inspiring story...

You don't have to be a golf fan...or even a sports fan...to appreciate what happened this past weekend at the Masters. This tournament was supposed to be all about Tiger Woods' return to the sport, but Tiger's biggest rival, Phil Mickelson, had other plans. Even with all of the hoopla surrounding Tiger, Phil ended up giving golf fans a weekend they'll not soon forget.

You see, over the last few months while Tiger has been dealing with his "issues," Phil has been dealing with something too. Eleven months ago, Phil's wife, Amy, was diagnosed with breast cancer and from the way I understand it, she has had a difficult battle with the disease. And if that's not enough, in the past year, Phil's mother was also diagnosed with breast cancer.

For the first time in almost a year, Amy and the couple's three small children traveled to a golf tournament to cheer on Phil. Amy wasn't strong enough to walk the course on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but she was there on Sunday when her husband (wearing a black hat with a pink ribbon on it) won his third, and most memorable, Masters tournament. An amazing ending to an amazing weekend. A weekend that was supposed to be all about Tiger, but ended up being all about Phil and Amy.

  1. Congratulations to Phil and his winnings. My heart goes out to his wife, mother and children for the struggles that they are dealing with each and everyday. My prayers will be with them always.
